This former TA barracks was converted into a photographic processing facility. The original garages set around an internal courtyard,  were gutted to create a large open space, into which a lightweight steel mezzanine was introduced with an open lift and glazed feature stair. The courtyard elevations were rendered and glazed curtain walling was installed along the full frontage, providing natural light and views into the deep-plan spaces.

The detailed planning of the building involved the careful consideration of the layout of a photographic processing centre and the need for the various processes to flow into one another. Accommodation included dark rooms, processing rooms for large machinery, office spaces, sales areas, print rooms and laboratory spaces.
