DGA obtained planning consent for a new 21 storey residential tower adjacent to the River Lea in East London in 2020. The design consists of 133 residential apartments across affordable and private tenures. The design process involved several Pre-app meetings, GLA meeting and 2 CADAP (QRP) presentations to achieve the final design and massing which was deemed by both the Local Authority and the CADAP panel to be of the highest quality. The aesthetic of the proposal was to create an efficient footprint which ‘worked hard’ and create a unique visual impact through the staggered balconies. Materiality was chosen to reflect the adjacent River Lea using glazed green bricks and bronze coloured metalwork picking up the natural colour palate and qualities surrounding the site.
